1. Description of Service
Chicago Precision Honing (chicagohoningservices.com) operates as a lead-generation and coordination platform that connects buyers of honing services with independent, accredited specialty shops across Illinois, Wisconsin & Indiana. Chicago Precision Honing is not itself a honing facility, does not perform machining or finishing work, and does not employ honing technicians. The work described on this site is delivered by independent third-party service providers engaged through Chicago Precision Honing.
2. Work Performed by Independent Providers
All honing, bore finishing, gauging, and related machining work referenced on this site is performed by independent specialty shops that maintain their own accreditation, insurance, equipment, and quality systems. When a quote is requested through this site, the request is routed to a shop with the matching capability envelope; the contract for the work itself is between the buyer and that shop.
3. Vetting and Selection
Providers engaged through this platform are reviewed for: machine capability envelope, traceability practices, insurance coverage, and customer feedback history. Inclusion is not a guarantee of any particular outcome on a specific job; outcomes depend on the part submitted, the print supplied, and the buyer's specifications.
4. No Warranty
Chicago Precision Honing provides this site, the routing service, and any information displayed on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Chicago Precision Honing disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Outcomes from any individual job are subject to the warranty terms of the performing shop, not Chicago Precision Honing.
5. Customer Responsibility
Buyers are responsible for: (a) accurately describing the part, bore dimensions, tolerance band, surface finish target, and quantity at the time of the quote request; (b) supplying any prints, drawings, or specifications required by the performing shop; (c) handling, freight, and delivery to and from the performing shop unless explicitly included in the quote; and (d) inspecting parts upon return and raising any non-conformance with the performing shop within the warranty window.
6. Industry-Specific Disclaimers
Honing work performed on engine, aerospace, hydraulic, firearms, or pressure-vessel components is governed by sector-specific regulatory frameworks (DOT, FAA, ATF, ASME, and equivalents). Buyers are responsible for ensuring the performing shop's certifications match the regulatory requirements of the end use. Chicago Precision Honing does not warrant suitability of any honing work for a specific regulatory framework.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Chicago Precision Honing's aggregate liability arising from or related to this site or the routing service is limited to the fees, if any, paid by the buyer to Chicago Precision Honing in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim. In no event is Chicago Precision Honing liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost production, downtime, or replacement-part costs.
8. Indemnification
The buyer agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Chicago Precision Honing from any claim arising from the buyer's use of this site, breach of these terms, violation of applicable law, or claims by third parties relating to honing work performed by an independent shop.
9. Intellectual Property
All site content — including text, graphics, logos, layouts, and source — is owned by or licensed to Chicago Precision Honing and is protected by copyright and trademark law. No portion of the site may be copied, reproduced, or distributed without prior written permission.
10. User Conduct
Users agree not to: (a) submit false or misleading quote requests; (b) scrape, crawl, or harvest content for competitive purposes; (c) attempt to circumvent the routing service to contact performing shops directly with the intent of avoiding the platform; or (d) submit content that is unlawful, abusive, or infringes another party's rights.
11. Third-Party Links
The site may contain links to external websites or services. Chicago Precision Honing is not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party site.
12. Modifications
Chicago Precision Honing may modify these Terms of Engagement at any time by posting a revised version on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the site after such posting constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
13. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Any dispute arising from these terms or the use of this site is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois.
